Jeff-

Spot on. Most Salespeople (myself included sometimes) give up after the 2nd or 3rd touch and that is just when you are getting in their minds if they didn't know you from before.

The mixed media approach will net you 8 to 11 touches without making you a stalker. I tell people that 8 touches is enough. As you know sales is very intertwined with confidence and it is important to maintain confidence when selling, so I tell people trying to do sales 8 and hope they get it done in 5.

Have a good one! Keep selling!!

I used to be a fan of the 10/20/30 rule... And I still condone it for many purposes- particularly for Sales-y pitching. But the best presentations I've ever seen nearly ALWAYS break that. The BEST presentations often:

1) Have few, or even no words.
2) Have lots of images to back up the current topic
3) Move quickly, sometimes as fast as 2 slides a minute.

However- this format needs to be practiced a few (or a lot) of times before it is more effective.

Jeff, this is the best workable explanation of the elevator pitch I have seen in years. Short, direct and with examples that people can relate to. Nice job.

Thought I would just take a minute and mention the QED Power Networking Luncheon Group. We are the former Orange Networking Alliance (ONA)Group and have been in existence a little more than a year on our own. Currently we meet at Bella Luna in Blooming Grove on Route 94. We have been presenting speakers at our lunches about every other month who are speaking on some interesting topics. The first time we did this we had someone speak on Social Networking, Linked In, specifically so we certainly understand the value there. The nice thing about our group is that there is no membership fee involved and basically no rules. Lunch is $30 and we usually have 15-20 people. We would like this to increase, but it does allow for a level of getting to know each other that is lacking in some groups with a tight agenda for a meeting or a really big crowd. You likely want to do business with people you know and this affords the opportunity to get to know the regulars.

Just for something different, our November meeting is going to be an evening event with appetizers and plenty of good conversation. If you have an interest in attending drop me an email for the details.

Thanks for the list! Looks like I have some social networking to do. Another venue to look into is this new shustir.com. They're looking to drive traffic based on location.

Hi Jeff,

I'm so glad you'll be joining us and I look forward to meeting you live or virtually.

Would love to hear more about your Manhattan office, maybe we can work together somehow. Hopefully we'll get matched up on the call so we can chat about it.

Cheers, Ilana
